The Lake

Lake Wateree, created in 1920 by Duke Energy, is more than 13,000 acres and is 21 miles long. There are several wonderful features of this expansive lake, including Lake Wateree State Park, a bird refuge, Shaw Air Force Base Recreation Center and Wateree Lake Camp and RV Campground.

Fishermen enjoy the varieties of fish in the lake such as bass, bigmouth bass, striped bass, crappie, catfish and bream. There are marinas located at various points which offer fuel, boat slips, boat and jet ski rentals, fishing equipment rentals, boat storage, groceries and camping supplies.

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources patrols the lake to ensure boating regulations are observed and to protect public safety.

Enjoy local eateries that the locals frequent as well as visitors. Just a short drive into lovely Historic Camden where you will find a broader selection of food, entertainment and shopping.

Welcome to Camden

Welcome to beautiful Camden South Carolina's oldest inland city. Camden, founded in 1733, is steeped in rich history and was historically significant in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Stop by the Historic Revolutionary War Site where you will find a gift shop and several buildings to explore.

Take a stroll in downtown Camden and be prepared to fall in love with all that it has to offer. Antique shops, fantastic restaurants, specialty shops and more await you in this little town. Each season offers inviting activities such as festivals, craft fairs, battle reenactments and the beloved Steeplechase races.

If historical homes are what your dreams are made of, you will be enamored with the expansive homes amongst tree lined streets. Seemingly around every corner there is a historical marker and lovely estate.
